Start by learning all the different ways we can be kind to ourselves. The videos and activities have been divided into three sections: be kind to your feels that fosters emotional intelligence; What I Like, What I’m Like that helps build on children’s self-image; and be kind to your body that focuses on healthy habits and loving our bodies.

Purpose: Help children identify what being kind to themselves is. This includes their feelings and their bodies. After watching this video, ask your child if they can think of ways that they can be kind to themselves.

SECTION 1. BE KIND TO YOUR FEELS

Omi wants to teach you all about your feels. All feelings are different and they’re all OK!

Purpose: Help children identify and verbalize their feelings and normalize the different feelings whether they are easy or hard feelings.

A great way to be kind to yourself is sharing the way you feel. All feelings are different, and all of them are OK! Help your child see how he or she experienced different feelings throughout the day with this chart, and share your own feelings with them.

Being thankful is a beautiful way to be kind to yourself. Make gratitude a part of your daily routine with you kids and start by saying something you yourself are thankful for. Download here.

Having a daily routine is a great way to be kind to yourself. This helps children know what happens in the day so they feel secure and have anticipation for each activity. Create together a routine for the morning and the afternoon using this sheet.

SECTION 2. WHAT I LIKE, WHAT I’M LIKE

Omi likes many different things, but no matter what he likes, Omi knows what it's like: it’s always kind!

Purpose: Help children identify what they like and understand that the things they like don’t define who they are inside. After watching this video, ask your child about their favorite things and reassure them that it’s ok if these things change over time. This does not affect who they are as an individual.

Now Omi wants to learn all about your favorite things! Help your child fill out this activity and share with them some of your favorite things as well. This activity also serves as an opportunity to teach kids we all like different things and that’s OK.

An important part of being kind to yourself is getting to know yourself: what you’re like and what you like. This activity is complementary to the previous one. Focus more on what your kids are LIKE by including their personality traits, and share with them what you’re like as well.

Purpose: Build self-image and awareness and show them that we are all different. Helps kids understand that we are all different, both inside and out.

A family is a group that love, support and respect each other. The kawanimals are one big happy family and want to learn about yours! Include in this activity anyone that fits the family description, even if they are not blood-related.

Purpose: Teach kids a more inclusive meaning of family, leading to acceptance of different types of families and appreciation of their own.

Purpose: Help children identify the many amazing things their bodies can do and foster body positivity and healthy habits as a way of being kind to our bodies.
